I'm gonna give my kitty a bath cuz she has kitty poo all down her leg. =/ icky... haha
So I'm gonna try to give her a bath. would Johnsons baby shampoo be ok to use on her? or would it irritate her skin and be bad if se licked it off. I'm assuming since its for babys it shud be fine. she is about 10 weeks old.Johnsons Baby Shampoo for my kitten?
No.Johnsons Baby Shampoo for my kitten?
No...and definitely DO NOT USE DISHWASHING soap omg. You can't even use dishwashing soap on a car because it damages the clear coat, I wouldn't imagine using it on an animal's skin!
Go to the pet store and get some kitten shampoo. It's relatively cheap and it will last you a long long long time.
Dawn dish washing soap is what the rescuers used on wildlife that was coated in oil during the Exxon Valdez Oil spill. As long as you rinse it all the way, it will be fine to use.
Are you feeding her moist food? If so, this is likely the cause and you should switch her to dry food.
If you have kitten shampoo use that. If not baby shampoo is fine for now, but definitely take a trip to the store and purchase kitty shampoo. You can also you dawn dish soap, but just a dab, it goes a long way.
No it will irritate her skin even if it's baby shampoo. Every ''human'' shampoo will irritate your pet's skin. You should go and buy some cat shampoo or if her leg is really dirty just clean with water then go buy the shampoo, come back and clean it all up.
You could use it and she would probably be ok, but why risk it. A bottle of kitten shampoo is only about four dollars so I would just go get that. It is specially made to not irritate her sensitive kitten skin.
ACTUALLY....this would be fine to use, and would be more gentle than a harsh dish soap. Make sure to use warm (not hot) water, and be gentle.
use dawn dishwashing soap.
NO!!!! It will irritate her skin.. Use cat shampoo..

Cats are naturally very clean, and they spend many of their waking hours meticulously grooming their coats, but occasionally cats need help with cleaning, especially in areas that aren't completely reachable such as the head and back. Anyone who has ever tried to bathe a cat knows it's a nearly impossible task. Unless a cat has been used to bathing in water from little on, they will fight to escape a bath, and you risk being bitten or mercilessly clawed. You could end up losing an appendage if you try to bathe a cat that isn't accustomed to being bathed, and it isn't worth risking.
Don't risk life and limb by trying to bathe your cat. Instead of attempting to bathe your cat, try the following homemade dry shampoo especially for cats. Your cat might not appreciate homemade dry shampoo, but he won't put up the fight he would if you tried to put him in water. Although this homemade shampoo is brushed out after application, it won't hurt your cat if he happens to clean himself afterwards. This homemade shampoo doesn't contain any soap, chemicals, or any potentially harmful ingredients, and it's completely natural and safe for cats of all ages.
Dry Shampoo Ingredients and Preparation
To make homemade dry shampoo for cats you'll need oatmeal, bran, or cornmeal. You'll also need a baking sheet, a bath towel or hand towel, and a cat brush. Depending on your cat's personality and level of cooperation, you might also need assistance from a friend or family member.
Prepare the dry shampoo for cats by placing the oatmeal, cornmeal, or bran on a baking sheet in a low temperature oven. Bake it just until it becomes comfortably warm to the touch. Begin applying the warm oatmeal, cornmeal, or bran to your cat's coat, and be sure to thoroughly but gently rub it down to the skin. Go over the fur with a bath towel or hand towel to help remove any loose dirt, oil, and grime, and finish by brushing the cat's fur.
Fast Solution for Dirty Spots on Fur
Does your cat like lounging beneath parked cars. In addition to keeping homemade dry shampoo on hand, keep baby wipes on hand to clean away dirty spots on fur. Baby wipes are naturally gentle and nontoxic and the soapy ingredients aren't meant to be rinsed away. Baby wipes are generally inexpensive, easy to use and dispose of, and they do a great job of spot cleaning dirty cats.

this might work for cat also.... although this site says it's for dogs
I looked around to see what other DIYers were washing their dogs with, and found a few interpretations of a formula that combines a mild dish soap, glycerine, vinegar and water. Sounds good! Using an all-natural dish soap (Seventh Generation, Ecover, etc.) will work to clean, glycerine is a humectant and emollient, and vinegar will boost shine and remove odor.
INGREDIENTS
1/3 cup glycerin
1 cup all natural dish soap
1 cup apple cider vinegar
1 quart water
Mix ingredients into a large bottle, shake %26amp; bathe.
....
Another site reccommends a similar mixture..
Mix one cup of all-natural dish soap with a cup of organic apple cider vinegar, 1/3rd cup of natural glycerin, and a quart of filtered water. The glycerin natural moisturizes and hydrates your pet's coat. The natural dish soap provides cleansing properties to the pet shampoo. The organic apple cider vinegar freshens the scent of your pet while adding shine to your dog or cat's fur.
....
sorry not sure about baby shampoo - if it is safe for it to get into baby's mouth %26amp; eyes it should be OK for kitty occassionally.... but honestly I never give my cats baths. They are the only things in my house that are ';auto-cleaning';. Sometimes if they get a little poo on their butt fur I will help them by removing the poo and taking a warm water only rag on their butts, rinse the rag and repeat until they smell clean again. And to advoid the ';dingle-berries'; from attaching I will trim the long-haire cats whole butt region. Hey he doesn't like it ... so I get a friend to hold him. But he does like the fact that his rump is low maintenane later and dingle free.

Can you use baby shampoo on a puppy. Like Johnson and Johnson.?
yeahCan you use baby shampoo on a puppy. Like Johnson and Johnson.?
of courseCan you use baby shampoo on a puppy. Like Johnson and Johnson.?
Only in emergencies. Which dogs RARELY have. Dish detergent, human shampoos are too strong for dog' coats.
Btw,dogs only need to be bathed 2 or 3 times a YEAR.
There is puppy shampoo out there too!! It would help with fleas and ticks when outside. And be gentle too.
yes we used to raise puppy's and we used that all the time.
but it is better to use a puppy shampoo
Yes, you may. However, at least two veterinarians have prescribed the antibiotic dish washing soap used to wash dishes by hand. It is effective as a remedy for flaky skin and slight allergic reactions symptoms include rash or a build up of dander. I followed the recommendations with good results. I used a ';human'; conditioner such as Herbal Essence as a rinse.
Yes, it actually will help their skin also.
yes, you can. I've used it before i guess since they make it so sensitive for babies it dont affect animals.
Yes, you can. Just do not get it in the eyes or the ears, and make sure to rinse very thoroughly. That's what I use on my Boston Terriers and they have very sensitive skin.
no, it will dry their skin and hair out. just use a pet safe shampoo like hylyt. it smells great and really cleans them well. it is very gentle even for kittens and puppies. also it is said to not wash away topical flea products because it is soap free. most of the animal hospitals that i've been to have it.
You can use any kind of shampoo on dogs as long as they're not allergic to it. Although some shampoos have a higher or lower (i forget) pH used for humans not necessarily for dogs. Just compare the pH's of both human and dog shampoos. Oh yeah, I almost forgot, they also make tearless shampoos for dogs. Just check out your Local Pet Store (LPS).
no... people shampoo gives dogs dandruff and makes them really itchy
yeah it is great for dogs especially puppies because if they move around and get shampoo in their eyes it won't hurt them
NO NO NO
dogs have a different pH than people, even with baby shampoo. buy tearless dog shampoo, you can get it just as cheap as baby shampoo. people shampoo can give them dry skin and other problems.
yes use no tears baby shampoo it mild
It sure wouldn't hurt. I've found, however, that when you use people shampoo on dogs, they get something like dandruff. It never happens when I use dog shampoo.
I don't think so. Dogs have a different PH factor then humans.
yes
No , I feel that you better buy a shampoo for puppies, maybe made of oats.
no the dog will die
yea my mom uses it on our cocker because she is scared to get regular dog shampoo in her eyes
Yes, you can. And it makes them smell pretty. Like babies. Lol!!!
yes
NO!!!! you can ruin their fur and give them skin conditions that can be there for the rest of their lives
Yes. That's what our breeder told us to use rather than dog shampoo.
use on any animals, the best works better than flea shampoo checkout my other posting too. u find very helpful and save money for our 4 legged babies

Is baby shampoo good for greasy hair (on an adult) ??
Well it would be ok, but if you really want to deal with greasy hair you probably want to try dandruff shampoo. Even though you don't have dandruff, the formula helps get rid of the oil in your hair.
Also, if you want your pores to secrete less oil, you can make sure you only gently massage your scalp, because if you scratch it too hard, your pores get irritated and secrete more oil. ;)Is baby shampoo good for greasy hair (on an adult) ??
Absolutely not, if tgheir hair is greasy, they need something stronger. Is baby shampoo good for greasy hair (on an adult) ??

Looking for a home remedy for my elderly Mom who complains of an itchy scalp. I had her try baby shampoo.....?
It didnt seem to do much good. Is this commom in the elderly? Anyone have any suggestions as to what we could try, before I have to take her to the Doc's. She is handicapped so it is very difficult to get her out often and she is not due for her regular physical for a few more months.Looking for a home remedy for my elderly Mom who complains of an itchy scalp. I had her try baby shampoo.....?
Cradle Cap is a scalp fungus common in the elderly. Neutrogena T-Gel is a shampoo that has a very small trace of tar (it's not sticky) which will kill the fungus. In the future, make sure her hair gets really dry with the hair dryer; fungi really love moisture, and it will come back eventually if the hair takes a long time to air-dry.Looking for a home remedy for my elderly Mom who complains of an itchy scalp. head and shoulders in the blue bottle, my girlfriend had a similar problem and she tried every shampoo you could think of including all the other brands of head and shoulders but the blue bottle is very sensitive and she says smells good to
Try Selsun shampoo which has an antifungal that should help the itching... It is a very common thing in the elderly.
Try some Scalpicin on her for now. She may also want to try a broad spectrum Essential Fatty Acid supplement.
EFA deficiencies are a major cause of dry, flaky, itchy skin.
You can buy scalpicin at Wal Mart or at most drug stores.
Try Head and Shoulders for itchy scalp. You can find it at the drug stores. If that doesn't help call your local pharmacist.
this may sound strange but it works raw eggs wisk it then rub it into the hair then rinse it out it will stop the itching and make it nice and shinny my two sisters do it and they have long hair that they can sit on they say it also makes it strong there is no harm in trying it good luck :)
Try a dandruff shampoo. Winter drys out skin, even on the scalp and this may be cause itching and irritation. Try Head and Shoulders or Denorex. There are even stronger ones. Take a look around at a pharmacy and I'm sure you will find what you need.
It is common, I would try Bumble %26amp; Bumble's Tea Tree shampoo, the tea tree oil acts as a clarifying cleanser and mild antiseptic without drying out the hair or the scalp. It's not inexpensive, and it's generally at higher end salons, not your typical drugstore selection. Worked for me.
Best to you and your mom.
There are actually a couple of things. First, if you are washing the hair every day, don't. Wash the hair every other day. Use a conditioner. Secondly, use a dandrif shampoo. Even if she doesn't have dandriff, it should ease the itchyness. If for any reason you can't/wont do that, there are oatmeal soaps/shampoos that you can get in the grocery store. Oatmeal baths are a natural remedy for itchy skin. Hope this helps.

Why doesn't Johnson and Johnson's Baby Shampoo bother the eyes?
How does this shampoo live up to its ';no more tears'; promise? Why doesn't Johnson and Johnson's Baby Shampoo bother the eyes?
Baby shampoos usually use ';surfactants'; or wetting agents rather than soap - which is what most adult shampoos use as a cleansing agent. Johnson and Johnson shampoos use 4 different surfacants - Cocamidopropyl Betaine, PEG-80 Sorbitan Laurate, Sodium Trideceth Sulfate, and PEG-150 Distearate. These are less harsh than normal detergents, but still perform in cleaning as it basically makes water more effective. (Adult shampoos usually use Sodium Lauryl Sulfate and Sodium Laureth Sulfate - soap based detergents.)
Water will still cause tears depending on its pH levels, so the claim that it is a ';no more tears'; formula is a bit misleading. Anyone might still tear up from the pH level, but surfactants do not cause any more adverse reaction than the water you are using to wash with. ';As gentle to the eyes as pure water.';
ETA: Baby Shampoo does NOT have any numbing agents. PET shampoos do, but not baby formulas. Here is the ingredient list from the website:
Ingredients
Water, Cocamidopropyl Betaine, PEG-80 Sorbitan Laurate, Sodium Trideceth Sulfate, PEG-150 Distearate, Fragrance, Polyquaternium-10, Tetrasodium EDTA, Quaternium-15, Citric Acid, Yellow 10 and Orange 4. May also contain: Citric Acid, Sodium Hydroxide.
(This product does NOT contain either Sodium Lauryl Sulfate or Sodium Laureth Sulfate as some answers would have you believe. Sodium Trideceth Sulfate is a milder surfactant commonly used in baby shampoos.)Why doesn't Johnson and Johnson's Baby Shampoo bother the eyes?
Soap IS a surfactant, so I don't know how much I trust this answer. One interesting thing I've heard (it could be wrong) is that ';no more tears'; shampoo work just as well as regular shampoo, but it doesn't lather well, and nearly everyone (mistakenly) thinks that the lathering means it's working. Report Abuse
The real way they ';make sure'; of this is by cruel, unnecessary, unscientific animal tests. That's why I proudly BOYCOTT Johnson and Johnson. Report Abuse
Let me make some clarification about the other answers first.
First of all, yes it is true as some other answers have said, it doesn't really stop anyone from having tears, literally. Babies will probably still cry even if the shampoo were water.
Another person has said, ';Baby shampoo has surfactants';; well yes but every other shampoo and soap you will find has surfactants -_-. Surfactants are wetting agents that lower the surface tension of a liquid which allow liquids to spread easily.
Also Johnson's has no lidocaine. If it did, the effects are to heal any irritating. So this would mean the Johnson's would irritate the eyes first and then they will be healed immediately. But this cant happen because lidocaine only effects a person's body through injection. -_-
Also it does not use all natural products! -_- *Is everyone seriously guessing? Lol.*
The answerer, ';Cloud Nine';, completely answered with the wrong answer(I'm sorry to say). Actually, the Johnson's Baby Shampoo does contain sodium laureth sulfate and/or sodium lauryl sulfate. This is because they are the mildest type of surfactants in the sulfate family. Other shampoos use less mild surfactants. However, special editions of Johnson's Baby Shampoo do contain other types of surfactants that could be non-ironics which are also very mild surfactants.
So, the practical reason Johnson's Baby Shampoo is ';non-tearing'; is because it contains milder surfactants than the surfactants in normal shampoo. The mild surfactants formulate the shampoo so that it has the same pH level as the eye. pH is a measure of acid in a solution. Sine the shampoo has the same pH level as the eyes it causes no harm because the eyes are used to that pH level. Other shampoos have a rather higher pH (around pH 7).
Yay! I'm done. I hope this helped you alot. Took me a bit of researching and recalling lol.
because it's chemical composition prevent this effect
Truthfully, I've had two children and they're full of crap when they say ';no more tears!'; You watch how fast a baby goes to rubbing their eyes when that shampoo gets in there.
I disagree with Lololo and Lalala's answer.
It is not as close to the truth as what Scientific Athletic mentioned and I checked the sources which doesn't explain why J%26amp;J baby shampoo doesn't hurt the eyes (as much).
Sci Athletic's answer makes a lot more sense...
Plain and simple:
it's pH is closer to the eye(s) pH level.
There is no sodium/ammonium laureth sulfate
Good question! I don't believe it is really no more tears, My daughter cried when she got it in her eyes! Just depends on PH level I believe.
it uses all natural products to make the shampoo
p.s.- it was my fav shampoo when i was little
Quite a few years back, someone (I don't remember who) told me that baby shampoos all have a numbing agent included so there's no burning sensation when the shampoo gets in your eyes. I don't know if it's true or not, but it kinda makes sense.
that is not the truth. ask any mother that ever used it. ask a mother that has not. it is a detergent. all detergents will sting your eyes. baby eyes are not that much more tender than are your eyes. try all the shampoos on the market out on yourself. all of them will sting your eyes. so does soap. but soap is not the best cleaner for hair: hair gets greasy and detergent is a grease. grease cuts grease, not soap.
They tested it on animals. They put it in rabbits eyes(since rabbits do not produce tears)to test toxicity. It is cruel and inhumane. Please support companies that do not test on animals.

I think that any baby will cry when stuff gets in their eyes...it could even be plain water and they will cry. What makes Baby Shampoo ';no more tears'; is that they don't use chemicals that could be harmful to the eyes. You still shouldn't squirt the stuff right in your eyes or anything, but if some gets in the babies eyes while you are rinsing (which it always does, no matter how careful you are) the kid isn't going to go blind from it.

Does johnson and johnson's baby shampoo clear acne?
J%26amp;J is really gentle but cleans so was wondering if it can help clear acne in a few days? since babys dont have acne.. who knows?Does johnson and johnson's baby shampoo clear acne?
no j %26amp;j shampoo cannot do that but one of my friends used dial antibacterial hand soap to clear up his acne now her skin looks clear smoothDoes johnson and johnson's baby shampoo clear acne?
You have to be kidding me. Babies don't have acne because they can not produce oil on there face yet. By the way acne has more to do with stress, and puberty.
J%26amp;J isn't stong enough to clear up acne. Try the advantage acne control kit. It is around $15 at Walmart, Target, Rite-Aid, and Walgreens.
It can be used to clean the face. I would use some Oxy pads and some asprin mashed in water. The salycilic acid in asprin will heal the acne.
Probably not.... since its made for babies...and babies dont have acne...
Its called proactive, i hear they have a special on some travel kit.
Try Quinoderm cream for acne.
it helps, but try tea tree oil
