Well, whatever Tiffany advised - do NOT use baby shampoo on your dog - do not use any shampoo with soap base, it will strip your dog's coat of oil and cause itchy, dry, flaky skin.





Use a good shampoo, soapless and specifically for dogs - HyLite is excellent, used by groomers and people who show their dogs - costs a little more, but goes a long way.





As to good food, a dry with meat listed as the first ingredient, not meat meal or corn meal.


Canidae is excellent - should be close to 30% protein and 18% fat for normal dogs - no artificial preservatives.





Please --- no human shampoo, no Dawn dish liquid - this stuff does a lot of harm to dogs.





As to vitamins, any good multiple vitamin specifically for dogs - go to a Petco or large dog store or search online for one.

Use Lambert Kay Fresh and Clean Oatmeal Shampoo,alternated with Nova Pearls Medicated Shampoo.Feed a dog food with meat as the first ingredient,no corn,wheat or soy and preferably some fish.You can also add a 1000 mg.soft gel of fish oil or salmon oil to his food everyday,and an egg every other day is great for dry skin,Also,don't bathe him more than once a week or his skin will get even drier.And,you might consider having him checked for thyroid problems,as this can cause dry,flaky skin.
a good shampoo for flaky skin and dandruff is an oatmeal medicated shampoo and conditioner for dogs. you can get the at walmart for a good price. it helps their coats and conditions the skin. i give my dogs salmon oil pills or you can put a tsp of olive oil in their food so it will help with the dryness and flakes.i feed mine lamb and rice wet plus the dry. best of luck i hope this gives you a little idea.

Whoa, whoa, never use human shampoo on dogs - end of story. OVERbathing is one cause of dry skin - bathing once a month is plenty, especially for dogs whose skin gets irritated.


What are you feeding your dog? It's very posssible that the food is causing the reaction.

Baby shampoo is fine, so is Aveno. I have used Aussie Moisturizing shampoo on a Yorkie with dandruff and it cleared right up. A long haired dog is not the same as a short haired dog. A Shi-tzu has hair just like you and I. You can use human shampoo no matter what other people tell you.

Basically it is a gentle shampoo, there are no benefits from it to help your hair grow faster. If you don't like harsh shapoos use this.
I use it all the time because it is very gentle. Reg. shampoo makes my scalp itch. You will have to lather up about 3 times with it. No, it will not make your hair grow any faster.
I think it is good for adults as well. I use it to give my hair a break from conditioners and such. I dont think it will help hair grow, but wont hurt.

Well yes of course...baby shampoo or baby body wash...whichever. The umbilical cord is dead tissue, it is not an open wound or anything, so you can put her in her bath and wash her normally, just they say try not to get the cord too wet because it delays it falling off. But you know the best way to make it come off quicker is to pull a big piece of loose cotton wool into like a sausage shape and wet it with medical alcohol...like cleaning alcohol that they use for cleaning wounds. Then wrap it around the base of the belly button. and hold for a few moments. Don;t worry if your baby grumbles or cries...its not out of pain...its because the cleaning alcohol is very cold. The nurse told me this.

I did w/ my first son. He had a HEAD FULL OF HAIR..*lol. It smells nice and cleanses well. However it's not necessary. Babies don't get that dirty.


Just becareful and test things out. My 2nd son had excema. Shampoo... or ANYTHING scented will break him out horribly. IF this happens.. just stick w/ like cetaphil cleanser or something, but it shouldn't if you've been using a normal baby wash.

Poodles do shed.. they shed less than other breeds, but they do shed. I'd watch how much you bathe.. it strips the natural oils from the coat. He should only be bathed if he gets dirty, or when he gets groomed.





Daily brushing will remove shedding hairs, dirty/debris, and help condition the coat and prevent matting.

I have a bichon, and I thought he was shedding a lot too. Turns out, when I took him to the vet, that he was having skin allergies. I'm such a bad mom that I had noticed the itching and hadn't thought anything about it b/c I had already checked for fleas and found none. I was using the Pearls au Lait, but the vet said it was too irritating to his skin. For white dogs, only bathe about once a month and always use a shampoo and conditioner that says ';soap free.'; We use something from the vet that's oatmeal-based, and he's loads better. We even use it on our papillon now, and I've noticed that it makes her hair shinier. Each bottle is about $17, but using it on a loofah sponge helps cut down on the amount you use at one time. Make sure to tell your groomer about the sensitive skin, too.

Also there are no pet shampoo that keeps fleas off. it may kill them right then but most ppl know for real flea control you should use products from your vet like frontline or advantix. Even if you use baby shampoo don't give them a bath too often or you risk giving them dry skin and itchy skin. gl with your pup :)

actually dawn dish liquid is the best, my vet told me that, i am not making it up.. lol although i have also used just pet shampoo on mine too. use the conditioning pet shampoo though, because their skin dries out very easily , you are only suppose to bath them once every couple of months. be careful. i use the dawn to wash the nasty off of mine then the conditioning shampoo for his skin. good luck!!Do you think its ok to give a ferret a bath with baby shampoo, ferrett shampoo is expensive?
use dove dish washing soap it is animal friendly.....It is often used to clean animals who have been in oil spills...
If you are going to use baby shampoo, make sure it's diluted.

i myself have recently acquired a ferret off a friend who could no longer care for him, i too researched the same thing and found that the general consensus said yes it was acceptable. a mild baby shampoo one such as ';Johnsons no more tears'; is ok for them. i gave it a try and it certainly did no harm to this once stinky male...its not 4 days later and he still smells of baby shampoo lol.
