Is baby shampoo bad for dogs?

No not at all! It's made for a gentle delicate skinned baby. I read ingredients in dog shampoos and baby shampoo is much more gentle. When I got my poodle she had dry flakey skin, the vet said some poodles are prone to it. I was using dog shampoo and switched to baby shampoo and has no problems since. Is baby shampoo bad for dogs?
Depends on a lot of things.... How often you bath your dog..how sensitive their skin is. Baby shampoo is very drying. I raise Shih-tzu and have used it on their face but would never think of using it on their whole body. Their coat is very important to their looks. Use a fast drying oatmeal shampoo. I bathe my dogs once a week and baby shampoo would dry out their hair and make it look fly away, even with using a good dog conditioner. As a groomer..most will tell you the same.. Baby shampoo is for babies.. Is baby shampoo bad for dogs?
haha no, it's actually good for them. it makes their fur soft, and unlike adult shampoos baby shampoos dont have a crap load of chemicals so it's safe and tear free.

plus it makes your dog smell like a baby:)
YES!

It's made for greasy humans,NOT dogs!

No human shampoos are formulated for dogs but ';baby'; stuff is the WORST!
no, I use baby shampoo on all of the new mother dogs when I give them a bath and even on my young puppies and when my dogs have surgeries. I use johnson%26amp;johnson
No,

I use Johnsons Baby shampoo (Tear free) on all my dogs, and their coats get very shiny after wards.

I use too use dog shampoo and it just isn't the same. lol.
No, i suppose.

But u'd better buy a shampoo for dogs.

it won't cost u much and the whole situation will be much safer ^^
nope, its more sensative..its good because it wont dry out their skin..you CANT bathe them too much though, but baby shampoo isnt bad.
no, its not bad at all

we use it on our dogs but around their heads so that we won't get the dog shampoo in their eyes
Only if it's chocolate scented.
No as long as if its tear free

Johnsons baby shampoo?

is baby shampoo any good ?

ive never really heard of any1 using it to wash their hair..

it cleans makeup brushes reallyy well n was just wonderin if its any good for ';adult'; hair?

i get the feelin it might leave it a bit greasy if i used it in my hair?

well the johsons yellow one anyway theres just somethin about it tht makes me think it would b a bit weird

my hair is reallyyyy long, do u think it would work?Johnsons baby shampoo?
WOW adrianna you little biiitch. 'adults' i'm sure you're still a pre teen so stfu.

Anyways i'm 16. i use baby shampoo because it's better for my hair. it does not have too many chemicals in it like head and shoulders and pantene, etc.. and also if in case it goes in my eyes, it does not sting.

soo.. would you rather have nice hair and tear free eyes,, or be called a 'bab'y [ as if anyone would know what shampoo you use]Johnsons baby shampoo?
I JUST washed my hair with the J %26amp; J No-more tangles hare shampoo(for straight hair - its blue colour shampoo). I had the same concern as you. So this is what i feel right now after using it.

1. My hair smells really nice. The smells is not strong at all.

2.MY hair is soft, shiny and smooth

3. the shampoo didn't foam up as much as regular shampoos but it was pretty good satisfactory foam. eg - if regular shampoo produces 100% foam then this one produces 80 - 85% foam.

4. It also has conditioner so i Saved time and conditioner ;)

5. Also, my hair is NOT GREASY AT ALL!.

6. My hair is really long as well, and i did notice less tangles in my hair WITHOUT any greasiness.

7. Itdidn't bother my eyes when the shampoo went into my eyes.

This shampoo is perfect for adults. i give it 9.5 out of 10 !!!
I personally think that it wouldn't work considering that it is baby shampoo. baby shampoo is for babies and anything with gentle fragile hair. if you are looking for the tear free shampoo part of it, you could definitely use kids shampoo like on the commercials, but i wouldn't use baby shampoo. it wouldn't damage your hair, and it wouldn't make it greasy, so i men it is better than nothing, but no, i wouldn't.
A lot of people (of all ages) use baby shampoo actually. It's a lot more softer and does not contain a lot of harsh chemicals that regular shampoos do. A lot of hair stylist recommend baby shampoo if you have really fine hair, or just want a softer approach to hair care. I'm sure you can use it, and have no problems with it, just give a try or buy a small bottle (trial/travel size).
Haa, my father uses that baby shampoo all the time.

It works really well.

I actually think it's gentler than regular shampoo.

Because it's made for babies n all.

I think you should try it.

And if you don't like it,

there is always other shampoo's. :)

-iPod
it can be used, it's just more gentle than other shampoos. It can't hurt to try it if you already have a bottle....the worst that would happen is you have'n to re wash your hair with normal shampoo
Johnson's baby shampoo does not leave you hair greasy. It actually cleans very well. It does not foam up as well as some shampoos but it works. I also think it smells good : )
Lol it's called baby shampoo. So it's not for adults. But I think they make johnson's products for adults now too. Not sure if that includes shampoo.
I've used it once or twice. I like it. It just makes your hair feel really soft and nice :-) It shouldn't make it greasy and yeah, it would work :-)
Well they do have Johnson's Baby Shampoo for adults. And it works too plus makes your hair really soft.

Who uses swim shampoo on there baby head?

if tyou do you are damaging your babys head it will also start going out of it ears and nose as stomach acid which will make your baby go in a comma!Who uses swim shampoo on there baby head?
my brother has a newborn. he does, where didd you hear thatWho uses swim shampoo on there baby head?
Yeah....ok.

Where is the proven research for this? A website link please?

And how can shampoo possibly make stomach acid come out of someones ears and nose? How does that make any sense?

And how could a baby turn into a punctuation mark?
And you got this information from where?! What the hell is ';swim shampoo'; anyway?
Sorry but what was your question?
what?
ummmm your special huh? or are you just plain stupid?
well you can put shampoo on a baby's hair just get the one that says tear free on it and be very careful you only need a little to cover the baby's whole head
What? Whats swim shampoo?

Help! I like lash blast but can't get it off. I've tried baby shampoo and one eye makeup remover.?

Baby oil or Vaseline, you can also try baby-wipes if you have these things around the house.

The commerical make-up removers should work.Help! I like lash blast but can't get it off. I've tried baby shampoo and one eye makeup remover.?
I know! I wore it yesterday after not having worn it for a month and that stuff really binds to the lash like nothing else! I use Neutrogena oil-free eye makeup remover and I used like 3 pads and it still left remnants of mascara! Even after I took a shower some of it was still on!

I really love Cover Girl's Lash Exact instead of Lash Blast. I find that Lash Blast is a bit clumpier, but Lash Exact really separates the lashes and doesn't leave any clumps. I've tried many...Smashbox, Mary Kay, Maybelline, etc. I always go back to Cover Girls Lash Exact!!!Help! I like lash blast but can't get it off. I've tried baby shampoo and one eye makeup remover.?
I have had the same problem... it looks so good but it just doesn't come off. I've been using those makeup remover wipes - I get all the makeup off my face, then actually run some water through the wipe so it's really soapy. That tends to work, it comes off in these weird..chunks, I guess you could say. If you dont' have access to those wipes, try Avon's brand or some Skin-so-soft, which removes everything.
Sorry this isn't answering your question, but where do you get ';lash blast';? Who makes it? I want it but dont know where to look, please e-mail me! Oh, by the way, I use clinique soap bar to get off waterproof mascara, that would probably work for you, you get it at the Clinique counter, or online at their store.
hold a wash cloth under hot water and then press and hold it on your lash line for about 5 seconds and then slowly rub it down and keep repeating that until it comes off. then use make up remover to get the rest off.
Try Neutrogena make up remover swipes in a light blue pkg at Walgreens @ $5.99 each plus tax. Removes even permanent mascara water proof.
thats exactly what i use. wash it with baby shampoo. and when it like, stays around your eye, use mineral oil. trust me.
mary kay eye make remover is pretty good for the price, lancome is better...
i get that with my chanel mascara its not waterproof but it dosent come off easily
I don't have that problem.

Are you using the waterproof kind...?

My mom has severe eye itching. She has been to Dr., no allergies. Was told to use baby shampoo. Any tips .?

Your Mom, while not having any allergies, can still be sensitive to the dyes, scents, and even the harsher soaps in most ';adult'; shampoos. Give the baby shampoo a try. the results will be very acceptable and her eyes will thank her for it.My mom has severe eye itching. She has been to Dr., no allergies. Was told to use baby shampoo. Any tips .?
i suffered from the same condition before. there was only one way to get any relief from it. i don't know if i would sugest this to anyone because it's a little extreme. the itching seemed so deep in my eyes that rubbing and actually scratching the bare eyeball with my fingertips wouldn't do the trick. so one night I was so frustrated I got a bottle of tapatio (hot sauce) and poured it into my eyes. it felt so good I knew I couldn't just stop there, I was on to something. I stumbled out to the garage with tapatio dripping out of my eyeholes and found a wire brush i use for cleaning up welds, so there were rusty pieces and chips of metal in the brush. I scrubbed my eyes with the brush until the itching stopped. it was kinda like the feeling you get when you push a q-tip into your ear just far enough, ya know the feeling??My mom has severe eye itching. She has been to Dr., no allergies. Was told to use baby shampoo. Any tips .?
Eye itching can be cause by DRY Eye need to see eye Doctor for that and they can run a test for dry eye sometimes it can be treated with eye drops sometimes surgery . If the itching is bad enough maybe she should think about having it checked out that way.

  • Cancer from baby shampoo?

recently I've been using Johnson%26amp;Johnson baby shampoo because it does not dry my hair. I bought the shampoo sometime last year. But recently this year it was discovered that some baby shampoo was recalled because it contained to much dioxane which can cause cancer. I have already used up half the bottle. Should I stop using it, or have all the harmful ones been recalled? and how much have I increased my risk for cancer by using about half the bottle?Cancer from baby shampoo?
A recall includes all the defective products, but it鈥檚 up to the consumer to turn them in. This is not a risk factor for cancer.Cancer from baby shampoo?
They are removing it from shelves by the end of the year. If it absolutely caused cancer in people, it would be removed immediately. At very high levels, it's been shown to cause cancer in mice. We are not mice and many substances that cause cancer in mice, do not cause cancer in humans. Also many treatments for cancer that have positive results in mice, do not come to fruition in humans.

You should be fine, honestly you really did not increase your chances of getting cancer. Most cancers are actually just fluky and aren't cause by anything.

Are nuetrogena shampoo, johnsons baby soap, ivory soap, equate dandruff shampoo, and tide environmantally safe?

I can't lump everything on that list into one category or another. You need to read the ingredients list on the back and look each one up. Then you can tell us.Are nuetrogena shampoo, johnsons baby soap, ivory soap, equate dandruff shampoo, and tide environmantally safe?
No, Because they are not soap, they are detergents, which are basically surfactants added to a chemical that foams like soap.

The products haven't been environmentally audited to find out what the chemicals break down into when they decompose, just cause they decompose doesn't mean they are safe.

I have a 1yr old niece and always half to buy her stuff so the number one place I go to would half to be baby's r us it's the perfect baby store if you ask me they have everything.Good luck with your baby and hope this helps!!!!
    babies r us
Any drugstore or you can use baby oil.
    shoprite or any market $3
That depends on the state you are in target walmart or any pharmacy should have it.
Actually, the best way to get rid of it, is to rub baby oil in their hair. Let it sit for 5-10 minutes, and use a fine tooth comb. It combs right out, and the baby oil softens the cradle cap, so it shouldn't hurt your baby at all. My son had it bad the first couple of months. No matter what shampoo I used, the baby oil and comb worked the best!
    target
My daughter's pediatrician said to use baby oil or just regular head %26amp; shoulders. I found that the head %26amp; shoulders worked better. I used it every other night, just be very careful not to get it in your baby's eyes. Within a week or so it started to clear up.
You can use vegetable oil also. I used grape seed oil and left it on my baby's head for 15 minutes and then combed it out gently with my dogs UNUSED flea comb. I got it all out easily.
The absolute best treatment for cradle cap is butter or margerine. I put it on, left it on for about 15 minutes and when i washed it off, it was gone.
Babies r'us...Mustela shampoo is very good
My son had cradle cap so bad his hair fell out. Baby oil and cradle cap shampoos didn't help. What finally cleared it up was using Aveeno Baby Shampoo. It's super sensitive. I washed his hair every day and gently brushed the loose flakes out. After a few days it cleared up and his hair began growing back.

So try that if the medicated stuff doesn't help!
i have seen it at walmart, target, babies R us and my local super market. if you can't find it try ordering it on line
Use Baby Oil Let it sit there for about 10 to 15 min then get a comb and go through it with that...

it worked GREAT for my son
just use baby oil! it's the best and doesn't have any weird ingredients.
Walmart has one with winnie the pooh or piglet or someone like that on it. It's a blue/green bottle if I remember correctly. It's in the pharmacy section or the baby section. I've seen it in both places.
I agree with the people who said baby oil. I used baby oil and let it sit for 10 minutes, then used a soft baby brush and brushed his head in circular motions to loosen it, then wash hair with baby shampoo in the bath.

Did this a few times and it was gone for both my sons.

Should I use Johnson's Baby shampoo?

Okay so I will be 16 soon and I was wondering if it is okay to use Baby shampoo? I still havent dyed my hair. (its still natural) but i used to straighten it a couple times but only like once or twice a month. Oh and I have very thin curly hair and its a little past my shoulders. If not, what shampoo do you recommend me using?Should I use Johnson's Baby shampoo?
I loved baby shampoo. It makes your hair so soft. It's lightweight, so since you have thin hair it won't weigh it down.

However, since your hair is curly, you might be more prone to dry/damaged hair. So, try the baby shampoo, but make sure you use a GOOD QUALITY conditioner.

Personally, I like herbal essences. It's the perfect price and it keeps my hair looking healthy (I bleach it regularly and straighten it a lot). I would try the herbal essences before investing in salon quality products.Should I use Johnson's Baby shampoo?
aussie's good or herbal essences, babii shampoo is more fo thinner hair..

    Baby Shampoo as Face Cleaner?

One of my friends uses Baby Shampoo for a lot of things. She uses first for her hair, but what is odd to me is that she uses it as a face cleaner too. I told her that my eye doctor told me to try baby shampoo for my dry eye, I just use it round my eye like I was showed, not my whole face. She uses it to remove makeup and everyday in the place of a face cleaner too. She says that it works really good and that since I use it anyways to just try as she does. I want to know if anyone else has used this too and has similar results or if it is just her.Baby Shampoo as Face Cleaner?
It depends on how much sulfate is in the shampoo. Sulfate will dry out your skin. Baby shampoos are quite gentle and may actually be more gentle than a lot of facial cleansers. Ingredients are listed in order of how much there is in it. Highest ingredient listed first %26amp; least one listed last. Just be certain to use a good moisturizer.Baby Shampoo as Face Cleaner?
It is perfectly fine to use. I work in the hospital and many doctors tell their patients they can use it. Like this one patient had dark circles around her eyes due to medications. The doctor told her to was her face with baby shampoo and then use hydocortisone. So keep on using it... you'll be fine!!!
No it is not good for your face but you should use baby wipes!!!!!
try it. maybe it will work for your type of skin
My eye doctor told me to use it also, Its great to remove eye makeup and makeup in general. I have been using it for years.
I would say go for it. It is gentle. I have used it for my hair and although it seems to not work very well I like it.
    hmmm..thank you for the idea!
i have never used shampoo of any kind on my face, but i do use baby shampoo on my hair almost all the time and it works great. baby products are good for adults, too, because they're so gentle. i would say go ahead and try it if you want - if you don't like it, you can always go back to your original cleanser.
When my son was a baby, I often used baby shampoo to wash my face. It worked great! It was gentle and didn't burn my eyes. It washed off my makeup easily. It was cheaper than most facial soap too. I tried it in my hair but for me it didn't work so well. It left my hair limp .
baby shampoo is a mild soap. if its gentle enough for a baby, well it works for me too. and I'm 50. my face ain't fallen off yet.

    Do you use baby shampoo?

    I still haven't found a shampoo I absolutely love.

My hair gets greasy really quick and tangles very easily.

Would baby shampoo (Johnson and Johnson) do anything for adult hair?Do you use baby shampoo?
Adults sometimes use Johnson鈥檚 Baby Shampoo and I admit that I, too, have given in a used it when supplies of my other shampoo were running low. This product is mild enough that it won鈥檛 hurt your scalp but for most adults, the mildness is almost too great to make it effective. I have short hair so I can get away with using a product like Johnson鈥檚 Baby Shampoo and still get a clean head of hair. But for really oily or dirty hair, this product won鈥檛 cut it for most adults.

One other nice thing about Johnson鈥檚 Baby Shampoo is that it lathers up so easily with such a small amount of shampoo, and there is absolutely no residue left behind when you use Johnson鈥檚 Baby Shampoo.Do you use baby shampoo?
It should be fine... i'm pretty sure the only difference is the scent and baby shampoo is gentler.
Try Herbal Essences :]] There hair products are ah-mazing!!! And they're cheap :]]

I don't know about the Baby Shampoo for sure, but your hair wouldn't smell so great.
I don't think its very attractive. Try something that smells good.

Is it O.K. to use baby shampoo on dogs?

I have used baby shampoo when I've been in a pinch and nothing terrible has happened. But, I wouldn't recommend using it as your regular pet shampoo. Is it O.K. to use baby shampoo on dogs?
No way.Is it O.K. to use baby shampoo on dogs?
No... you've got to use the special shampoo for dogs, otherwise it can cause hair lose, skin irritation and maybe bugs.
no it is not okay--dogs have different skin conditions than humans and need a soap/shampoo that is pH adjusted to their requirements or they will possibly end up with a rash or other skin disorder
In a jam, its probably ok.. but it will strip the fur and with repeated use can make it dry.
I use my shampoo on my dogs... for those who answer ';no'; I would like to know why not. Soap is soap. My dogs don't have fleas, so who cares?
yes cause its 4 baby skin is more delicate than ur dogs
yes, but not hair shampoo. baby shampoo is gentle enough, i use it on my dog
It wont hurt your dog, but it can make them have dry, itchy skin.
I wouldn't use it. I'd use shampoo that was just for dogs. I wouldn't use dog shampoo on a baby either.
not sure, im pretty sure it would be OK. But i would buy dog shampoo
i use johnson's baby shampoo on my dog... i have for years, after confirmation from my vet that it's perfectly safe.
    two words - animal cruelty
yea i would just pick up some puppy shampoo
Some people will say no, but baby shampoo is great on dogs, because it doen't sting their eyes, it makes them smell good, but it does not fight fleas, ticks, lice and other critters dogs pick up in their coats.
It's very drying to their skin and will make them itch.
NEVER! Go to a pet store and pick up some dog shampoo. If you have a puppy you can get no tears puppy shampoo.
go to your local pet store and use their stuff, ask your vet about what's safe to use.
I think its best using shampoo specially made for dogs .
i think so. baby shampoo is so mild I'm pretty sure thats ok.
Yes, they need the balanced Ph level;-} but dilute it.
It's not the best choice; humans have a different ph than dogs. If you can't get a dog shampoo, and it's an emergency, it would be better to use diluted dish detergent. Then go get some dog shampoo, preferably tearless.
I have a friend who swears by it. Johnson's Baby Shampoo. Her dogs are always clean and don't seem to have any skin problems or itching from it so I think it's okay. I'd be wary of regular human shampoo, though, with all the chemicals and fragrances.
yes it is. I have been using it on my Italian Greyhound for over 2 years. I give him a bath once or twice a week. It has not made his skin dry at all and his fur is just fine. Plus baby shampoo is tear free so if I get it in his eyes no harm done.

It could make some dogs' skin dry though with frequent use. I guess it has never bothered my dog.
no.usually due to ph contents.. thats why they make Doggy shampoos! ;)

    .
human shampoo can hurt a dog if you use it over a long period of time, but once with even human shampoo would be fine, , , , baby shampoo shouldnt hurt it at all.....i use human shampoo on my dogs all the time and their fine.
Not at all, you must use only products for pets....隆隆隆隆隆
    NO, did you already? :O
    NO

    ARE YOU MAD!!!

almost ALL human shampoos have something at the back that says :this product has not been tested on house animals'; (i.e. DOG)

unless u want him to lose his hair, or teeth, or brain, or nose?

definately dont do it... it might have adverse effect such as heightened aggression, violence or may cause damage to your dogs nose bcause its so sensitive

if u really want to then buy dog shampoo, ok?
No even though it is gentle they are not ment for dog skin or coats. It could dry there skin and make they coats dull.
    I DON'T THINK SO

    YOU SHOULD USE DOG SHAMPOO

    Should/Can I use Johnson's Baby shampoo?

Okay so I am 12 and I was wondering if it is okay to use Baby shampoo? i thought baby shampoo was nice and easy for you scalp, so i wanted to use it again. Can baby shampoo kill fleas? (question 2!)?

i posted again because i wanted more opinions....

I heard that it would work!

Because I read about it somewhere and thats why I bought it.

What if I use Frontline AND baby shampoo together, will it work?

I also put garlic in my dog's food and im looking for apple cider vinegar! Can baby shampoo kill fleas? (question 2!)?
Okay I said no the first time and that still stands for eggs. But it will kill adult fleas.

    Here are some other ideas!

http://www.earthclinic.com/Pets/fleas.ht鈥?/a>Can baby shampoo kill fleas? (question 2!)?
Baby shampoo (or any shampoo) will kill the fleas that are on the dog or cat at the moment of the bath. The problem is that for every flea you can find on your pet at any one time, there are at least 10 fleas in the pet's environment (in your house, your yard, etc.). Shampoo won't leave any pesticidal residue to kill this other 90% of the fleas when they hop back on your pet. Frontline should do the job, but it doesn't work instantly for the same reason-- not all the fleas are on your animal at the same time.
No baby shampoo will not kill fleas.

Many commerical products made specifically to kill fleas, don't kill flea...........because fleas have become ammune to them, which is why things like flea collars are a waste of money.

If your dog has fleas, use Frontline to get rid of them.

If you want to protect your dog from getting fleas, then give your dog x2 brewers Yeast tablets daily ( and together with the garlic you already give) these will protect it getting fleas, ticks and worms. Then you don't have to use chemical products on your dog again.

Don't forget to treat your house, soft furnishings, carpets etc and the dog bed.

Not sure what your obsession is about baby shampoo.............
from my past experience: baby shampoo will not work to kill fleas, but dawn dish soap will, its temporary but the front line will do in the fleas the rest of the way anyways.

My vet says: If you are going to use frontline do it when the fur is dirty, do not do it when freshly washed because the chemicals in it bond with the natural oils in the hair, if the oils are washed out it will wear off fast and not be as effective. If you just washed your pet wait a few days before applying frontline or advantage. Or apply it when they are dirty wait a couple days for it to soak in then wash them.

    Also important:

Vacuum your house thouroughly a few times, flea larva live in carpets so to help get rid of the flea issue you need to vacuum a lot.
No it will not. Dawn will, however if you are having a flea problem you need to treat your home and your dog. No you can not use the shampoo together with the frontline.

I would however stop with the garlic, just a note garlic can be toxic to dogs and can cause anemia.

Bathe your dog, make shure to treat your home wash all bedding, topical products like advantage and frontline work with the natural oils in your dog if the dog is wet it will not work if you add this to the shampoo what the point your just washing it off.

Baby shampoo will not kill fleas, you will have a clean dog with fleas,
Listen, get your dog a dog flea and tick shampoo and wash him correctly. You can't wash a dog for several days after you apply the frontline so that obviously won't work now will it? And stop giving your dog garlic as it's toxic to dogs over a period of time, and what's the apple cider vinegar for? Stop trying to self medicate your dog!
Frontline will work without the shampoo. Why are you worried about shampooing the dog if you have put Frontline on him/her? If you want more opinions wait for a different time of day, so different people will be on here answering questions. If you leave baby shampoo on the dog for 10-15 minutes you will suffocate the fleas so it will work.
baby shampoo does not kill fleas. ALl you will succeed in doing is drying out your dog's skin and coat and possibly causing more irritations.

    The frontline ALONE will work.

Garlic does not work effectivly. Your dog would have to eat so much that he reeks of garlic.. I mean it literally has to be seeping thru his pores.. that amount of garlic would be TOXIC for your dog... you'd kill your dog before it gets that far.

Vinegar is not going to kill fleas either.. good luck getting your dog to eat that too.
no baby s will not work and mixing it is defeating the purpose frontline is supposed to kill the fleas by getting into the blood stream through the skin and the fleas bit the skin to suck the blood bye bye fleas read the instructions on the frontline packaging and baby shampoo will not kill fleas its nice for their skin but don't wash doggy to much like our own hair strip the natural oils out and that not good for the dog at all garlic and apple cider ? no idea
i have a lot of experience with this

my mom is a dog groomer and we also own 8 dogs

i hope ur not washing ur dog with frontline

cuz ur supposed to out it on the back of there necks so they dont get it off and it will pretect them fully

dont feed ur dog this it will only make him sick

and dont use the baby shampoo its not good for the dogs skin

u can also buy flea and tic spray. and spray this over the dogs bed ur couches [the dog] and if he goes in ur back yard

also if ur able to pull them off burn them and make sure its full burned so it dies [dont burn them on ur dog]

good luck hope i helped =]
I doubt that baby shampoo can kill fleas because fleas require some sort of special medication to be removed from your dog's fur.

Here's a link that can give you more information regard proper flea medication. hope this helps!

    http://dogtime.com/flea-control.html
Just go to your vet or call him for crying out loud and get something that isn't toxic and harmful to your pet.

Your vet will give you something that actually works! GEEZ! Is that so hard.

Forget all this other garbage. It doesn't work!!!!!
Why don't you just get a flea shampoo and be done with it? With a flea shampoo, you'll be sure to rid your dog of the fleas AND the eggs.
yes but go to a pet store and but some antie flea shampoo it really helps!
nOPE NOPE NOPE if you use dish soap it will tho D; thats what i use you cover your dog in dish soap. look for the tics put a lil more of dish soap weree every tic is and they should die

  • Hi ,i am asking about a good brand for baby moisturizing, shampoo, soap....can any one help me?

I really like Aveeno Baby- it is more natural than Johnson's and gentle on baby!Hi ,i am asking about a good brand for baby moisturizing, shampoo, soap....can any one help me?
You've been given 3 great answer already. Tried and true is always your best way to go. Pricey doesn't mean better and trendy certainly doesn't mean better. I've always loved the smell of Baby Magic Lotion. That was my choice for my 3 kids. Johnson %26amp; Johnson has been a household name for years, obviously it's a good product and Burt's Bee's is fairly new compared to the 2 I've just mentioned, but it's still a good brand. There's also Yardley baby soap, which smells wonderful. A lot of scented items should only be used when baby is a little older. If you have a newborn, then Johnson's is tried and true. I actually didn't bathe my newborns for 2 weeks or so with soap. I sponge bathed them with warm water and used the baby magic lotion as you would a liquid shower gel. Baby's don't play in the dirt, so no need for harsh soaps or any soaps for that matter. Milky and sweaty smells are easily cleansed with a soft cloth and a little warm water and lotion. Better for their skin. I did the same for my son's hair because he had cradle cap and it only lasted 2-3 weeks. Enjoy these times because as they grow, the smells don't get any better. Ha Ha lol.Hi ,i am asking about a good brand for baby moisturizing, shampoo, soap....can any one help me?
Johnsons is good for babys but after reading the bottle as it gave my baby brother rashes we found that they dont really recommend it for new born babies.

we ended up getting bought as a gift a load of shampoo and sopas, creams etc from boots called; little me; they are all organic and non harming to the babies skin.

we have found them to work very well and dont cost over the top, i think that they are frequently on offer but are no more than a couple of pounds.

but if the baby is over 6 months johnsons is by far the winner.
i have two kids with sensitive skin, a history of eczema, and food allergies. Aveeno regular baby wash is the only thing i will use on either of my kids. the creamy lavender stuff made my son's hair look greasy. my neice who has long hair uses aveeno to wash and then a regular adult conditioner on the ends of her hair.

you shouldn't use any lotion on a baby unless the doctor tells you to. a newborn's skin will appear dry and cracked, but that's very normal and using a moisturizer will just prolong it. you can ask the doctor about it if you are concerned, but they will tell you to leave it alone.

we also like the aveeno diaper rash cream. for more stubborn rashes, we use the Dr. Smith's ointment.

don't use baby powder on a baby unless the doctor tells you to. babies can inhale the powder and it's not good for them.
People will tell you Johnson %26amp; Johnson but it is harsh and not made with natural ingredients. I don't like using a lot of chemicals on my baby.

I use Baby Burts Bees and Californa Baby. Both are hypoallergenic.
    Aveeno

    Johnson and Johnson

    Baby Magic
any that doesn't contain petrochemicals or sodium laurel sulphates.

Which means NO johnson and johnson. That stuff is no good for babies skin...
I love Johson %26amp; Johnson, and Aveeno Baby.
Aveeno with Oatmeal was recommended by my son's pediatrician
Johnson's is a great brand but Target is too.
Burt's Bees! All natural, smells really good and is very gentle!
Can't go wrong with Johnson and Johnson! :)

yes, baby shampoo is alot gentler than regular shampoo, as it was desgned for babys with sensitive hair and skin . but you can still use it! ;)
Must be good stuff - my s/o uses it on his car...

At what age is it ok to clean baby with shampoo/soap..?

and what type of soap/shampoo is ok to use?

thanks At what age is it ok to clean baby with shampoo/soap..?
i used johnsons top to toe wash from the first bath the day after he was born and still in hospital. but you only need a tiny squirt on the sponge or even just put it in the bathwater. my son is 4 months old now and i still use it for his body. but because he has a mop of hair i use babyshampoo on his hair about once a week if it needs it.

the midwives at the hospital will give you a hand with the baths while you're there anyway, it's probably best if you ask them for advice on what to use and how often.

also, the cotton and water thing is for cleaning the baby when you change the nappy. they don't like to see you use baby wipes, in my hospital it was actually forbidden to use anything but water and cottonwool. if you were caught using wipes you were in for an earful! At what age is it ok to clean baby with shampoo/soap..?
Its funny because when i was expecting our first child a few years ago we brought over 20 bottles of Johnson's products and when we started using them she developed very bad reactions to the products and the Health Visitor Proc Oilatum and a 3 in 1 paraffin which works wonders.

After about 6 weeks you can introduce a small cap full of some thing like Oilatum or sensitive baby wash and see how baby gets on.

Dont by loads of anything I agree withthe person above soap strips the bodys natual oils as they are growing so quicky so avoid unless they had really made a mess. :)
my daughter first bath was just a small sponge bath with no soap I didn't want to get her umbilical cord wet after it fell off I gave her one in her tub with soap water and w bucket of luke warm water to rinse her

Johnsons and Johnson is a good shampoo to use I prefer Aveeno baby it a little more pricey but its good for my girls skin

Parent's Choice also compares to Johnsons and is cheaper too
the doctors use soap and shampoo for their very first bath right in the hospital! the only thing you have to watch out for is the ambilical cord. you have to keep it dry so until that falls off, about 2 weeks, you have to do a sponge bath but you can still use soap and shampoo.
I used johnsons body wash and shampoo form birth but only about once or twice a week. newborns dont really get that dirty as they dont go anywhere, so I used to just wash her face, hands, bum and neck daily with cotton wool, and bath once or twice weekly, as too much bathing strips the natural oils that keep your babies skin from drying out Hope this helps :) my daughter is 2 and has never had dry skin :)
if your family has a history of skin problems I would suggest you don't use soap, it may be harsh on baby. I have used Natural Instinct products since we brought our daughter home ( no one told me not to use soap though) from hospital, they don't contain soap. Have fun with your new bub!
Well i use Johnson's baby bath and Johnson's baby shampoo, and i have done since birth.

but my health visitor said not to until 12 months of age!

i took absolutely NO notice of her i don't see any problems with doing this my DD is now 4 months old.
i took my baby a real bath a week after she was born. i used to use johnson %26amp; johnson for a whole year until i discovered gerber's milk and honey body wash and shampoo. it smells so good... i'd use it myself, but people would look at me weird.
We gave my daughter sponge baths before her umbilical stump fell off and used the Johnson's baby soap. At 3 months we give baths with the baby soap and Johnson's baby shampoo.

There is nothing wrong with this, we even apply baby lotion afterwards.
Any baby soap is fine....and you can start anytime. If she/he gets a rash then try a different kind.
We use J%26amp;J head to toe baby wash and have been using it all along.
I've used Johnson's Baby Wash since the day my baby was born.
about two weeks after birth and try and get some gentle shampoo like johnsons thats what i done
i use curash, its soap free but really good..and smells great!
erm shudnt u be washing ur baby anyway???

    use baby shampoo :s

    god poor dirty child
Water is all that is necessary to wash babies. Soap and shampoo can be introduced when deemed necessary, but they can strip away natural oils and can cause dry skin. Be sure to avoid commercial types which contain phthalates, alcohol, SLS and parabens- they are not nice at all, and should be banned in childrens products IMO. Opt for an organic soap or wash, such as Green People Organic Babies, or Beaming Baby.

    Does baby shampoo harm dogs?

i have a half yorkie half laso aphso thats bought 10 months we need 2 go 2 take Yoshi (the dog) 2 the vet in 2 hours and thiers not a dog store around we cant just take him smelling like garbage! so we bought baby shampoo does this harm him??.....Does baby shampoo harm dogs?
I wouldn't recommend using a shampoo made for humans on your pets. It may not be harmful right away, but could dry out your dogs' skin later on. Your best bet is to use a detergent free shampoo or colloidal oatmeal shampoo that was meant for dogs. I use either Doc. Ackerman's Colloidal Oatmeal http://www.onlynaturalpet.com/products/D鈥?/a> or Cloudstar Buddy Wash http://www.cloudstar.com/

In between shampoos you can use special wipes made for dogs that will freshen up their coats.

Kim at: http://www.peaceful-organic-planet.com/n鈥?/a>Does baby shampoo harm dogs?
No, baby shampoo is fine for dogs, especially puppies.
no it doesnt harm your dog. it is the best shampoo for your dog. it keeps its fur soft, and it also keeps out the flea and ticks.
Baby shampoo doesent harm dogs because think about it if a baby is gonna be using it a dog can use it!! I know it can sometimes cause dandruff on older dogs because there hair is much much more coarse and dry so its important to use a conditinor on them..but i would totally recomend baby shampoo on a puppy!!! i like the seargents skip flea oatmeal ( i have a chihuahua and mini greyhound and i use the dove mostuire 2 in 1 on them))
one time use wont matter, long term use it will - dogs need dog shampoo.
nope, but try to keep it out of his eyes anyways
It won't harm him, but I would use something that is designed for dogs. Animals have different dermatological needs than humans, so he should use a shampoo that is made for him. Your vet can probably recommend one.
Baby shampoo is actually GREAT -- but do NOT apply it to his head -- use only luke warm water to clean his face %26amp; head. : )

Be sure to rinse it all out thoroughly -- he will be very itchy if there is any residue left on his skin and fur.

    : )

    Good luck!
never use human products as they have sensitive skin only use dog shampoo 1/8th of shampoo 7/8 of water mixed jus use plain water near eyes anf face
No, it won't harm him, but you shouldn't use it regularly. Human shampoos can give dogs skin problems. But it's fine for now.
It is not good for the pets hair. As dogs have different substance of hair. I buy dog or puppy shampoo and a dog conditioner. I have a Maltese who has the shiniest coat of fur. I get shampoo that won't sting their eyes.

If I were in a pinch, I guess baby shampoo would do.
    that is safe to use
Dogs skins pH is different to ours. I dare say a one of bath wont do too much harm, but long term it definatly will.

Your vet will not care if Yoshi smells a little 'doggy', but, with the mix you refer too, I am suprised you don't keep all the nessesary grooming equipment to hand at all times!

Also, my hairdresser once told me that baby shampoo is the most acidic on the market, so that really was the wrong choice! When you're at the vet, pick up some proper dog shampoo, and some grooming spray to keep Yoshi smelling fresh.

  • Is it ok to use baby shampoo for my hair?

i have dyed permed and everything else to may hair and i also straighten it. so i was wondering if i used baby shampoo would i still get the same texture and all that with baby shampoo?

whats the difference vs. baby shampoo and regular adult shampoo?

    what are pros and cons?

Is it ok to use baby shampoo for my hair?
in my opinion, baby shampoo is the best shampoo to use! i am 18 and i still use baby shampoo (johnsons one) because it makes your hair really soft and shiny. You have to use it a couple of times though, nothing comes that easy...but wait for a few weeks...

what also may help is hot olive oil treatment once a month...heat some pure olive oil and apply it to the scalp and ends of hair, massage thoroughly and leave it in for the night and wash out properly using baby shampoo once or twice if necessary the next day...mind you, i dont use conditioner because i dont think i need it but that depends on you....ohh and also washing the hair 3 times a week is plenty (just incase you might be interested)...

i used to straighten my hair a couple of years ago but it destroyed my hair...so after one year of use i completely abandoned it and did whatever i have told you..it definately helped me, and i hope it does to you as wel!Is it ok to use baby shampoo for my hair?
Baby shampoo is more alkaline than adult shampoo so if it gets in your eyes it wont sting. There is nothing wrong if you want to use it though. Just make sure you use a good conditioner to keep your hair soft and shiny.
yep its all cool :) seriously coz i use johnsons baby and it actually helped my hair(made it healthier)

I use Johnson's Soothing Naturals Shampoo and Body Wash on my 1 month old daughter, but my mom uses Aveeno Baby on her 6 month old son, so I'm curious on what others use.Which shampoo do you use on your baby?
Johnson's I don't know the name of it but it's in the purple bottle and it has the lavender in it...we love it!!Which shampoo do you use on your baby?
I was using the Eucerin baby wash, but now I use the Aveeno Baby wash and shampoo on my son. I use that only cause my son has dry skin. Its great, i love the stuff! it def. has improved my son's skin.
I have always used Johnson and Johnson either lavender or the regular on my son. I think it's totally up to you and what you want to use on your child.
i switch between j%26amp;j or nioxin my hair stylist told me to try it when my first born had cradle cap and i loved it it works great for cradle cap. so i switch every other bath. so cradle cap does not return
Both of them are meant for babies and work well. It's just a matter of what you prefer and you think works best for your baby.
u can use any really but babys have the most sensitive skin so if u keep changing ur products ur baby might have allergic reaction.ive always stuck with johnsons baby shampoo also the johnsons baby bed time bath is very good.

    Baby Shampoo for fighting ance?

My sister went to a dermatologist in florida and he said was your face with baby shampoo does anyone do this and get clear skin? Sounds weird but yeah the dermatologist said too.Baby Shampoo for fighting ance?
Well I was told that here in nyc a few years ago I did it for 1 year once a week and do it once a month still and my skin has cleared up and has stayed cleared upBaby Shampoo for fighting ance?
Well, when you have acne and you scrub your face with harsh things, it dries your skin out, so then your body produces more and more oil. So it would make sence. If you wash with something gentle, your body doesn't need to re-moisturize because your skin isn't super dried out!
hot water and dial antibacterial soap 3-4 times daily works better
my skin is already clear. so i don't have that problem...
I have never heard about using baby shampoo as a face

    wash before.

stop using baby shampoo for a start! get some decent shampoo and conditioner, like loreal's for dry damaged hair, eat more oily fish like tuna its fab for hair, skin and nails, buy some pure and simple face deep cleanser and moisturizer, eat Jelly, you know when you buy it and its in cubes before you make it... eat a cube a day, fab for nails also, eat more green veg and cauliflower both are packed with iron (for hair) and calcium ( for nails) and drink fresh water as this will purify your skin from the inside! hope it helped.

Can i use baby shampoo ?

im 16. i have curly hair which is quiet dry i wanted to ask if i can use baby shampoo and baby conditioner (johnson's) cause all the other shampoos have silicone which can damage hair? but yeah can i use baby shampoo would it be better ?Can i use baby shampoo ?
    sure why not

I don't believe silicone harm hair at all. The conditioner only with no silicone does not seem to benefit a lot of people most them end up with dry hair. I think some dumb person wrote a book so there salon can be different than othersCan i use baby shampoo ?
Silicone doesn't damage the hair, however it can build up and create a greasy layer on your hair which is why some people wash their hair occassionally with a detox shampoo (toni and guy do one of these).
i use to use baby shampoo but it isnt as soapy as other

shampoos so you'll probably run out of baby shampoo

before you would run out of any other shampoo.
yes you can use baby shampoo and conditioner it wont do any harm to u or Your hair also if you get it in ur eyes it should not hurt

    them
Absolutely. They are very good for sensitive skins.
Why not it don't hurt the babies hair ,
When my kids were young I used it all the time. It makes your hair look, feel and smell wonderful!
well if u need something a little bit mild, you should use it then.

    Johnson and Johnson baby shampoo?

Does anybody use it on their hair?

If so it is good or bad?Johnson and Johnson baby shampoo?
I've used it on my hair before and I found it's pretty good :) I love the smell and it leaves your hair lovely and soft - make sure to get the conditioner too though!Johnson and Johnson baby shampoo?
i just makes it really soft. it really depends on your hair texture, though. like i have fine hair, so my got really tangled and what not
I used it on my hair. it didn't do anything for me. My hair was pretty soft, but really limp and flat.
i use it on my lawn to keep pests away

Can i use tearless baby shampoo on ,my ferret?

We ran out of ferret shampoo, so can she use baby shampoo? Can i use tearless baby shampoo on ,my ferret?
yes you could but it's not the best to use and it's not

heathyCan i use tearless baby shampoo on ,my ferret?
I wouldn't even though it is mild. You have to be really careful. animals have different skin that can dry out easy. I used a mild puppy shampoo on my dog and he got into something and smelled and I had to bathe him again in a week and he started shedding really bad. Vet said that the soap in the shampoo was dying him out. I'd use an oatmeal dog or cat shampoo on him.
Yeah, you can - although it's not the best. If you don't have to wash them, I would wait. They don't need bathed often.

This is what I use (aloe vera)

    yes you can!

it is better for the farrets skin@

No. You can only use your own tears.
    use hydrochloric acid

Is it okay for adults to use BABY PRODUCTS like Soap, Body wash, shampoo?

i would like to use nivea baby cream soapIs it okay for adults to use BABY PRODUCTS like Soap, Body wash, shampoo?
    Of course!

You'd be suprised how many people use baby products on themselves.

Baby products usually have the same basic ';ingrediants'; yet on a much gentler/lesser scale. Many people use baby products due to incredibly sensitive skin that would be irritated by normal products.

The only thing I wouldn't really use on myself would be soap intended for babies, since the soap is not nearly as strong as may leave you a little less fresh than normal. Is it okay for adults to use BABY PRODUCTS like Soap, Body wash, shampoo?
Yes, especially if you have sensitive skin!

It really just means it is sensitive enough for a baby, and you can use pretty much anything they can.
yeah definitely! i personally love baby products because theyre so gentle on me.
Absolutely! Most of them are more gentle too. Nivea is a good product.
Yeah, they've just got a more neutral pH for baby skin.

Johnson & johnson baby shampoo on a yorkie?

i was just wondering if anyone has tried baby shampoo on their dog and if its safe to do so?Johnson %26amp; johnson baby shampoo on a yorkie?
I think that is a very safe shampoo to use. However some dogs have skin allergies so just watch what you use...see what happens :)

pls i have concern over my dog too my q: http://au.answers.yahoo.com/question/ind鈥?/a>Johnson %26amp; johnson baby shampoo on a yorkie?
I haven't asked a professional, but growing up we used baby shampoo on our cats and dogs. We used it because the soap wouldn't burn their eyes, even though we didn't get their heads wet. So, I've tried it on several cats and medium sized dogs, it worked great. I do know that some shampoos for humans will make dogs itchy or have dry skin, so I do know that dog shampoo is always better than human, and baby shampoo is better than regular human shampoo
Please DON'T use human baby shampoo on a dog. Human and dog skin are very different in terms of their acidity and pH values. In plain English, human shampoos are not designed for dogs in mind and will irritate their skin. Instead, use a shampoo specifically for dogs. Oatmeal based shampoos often work very well and they are kinder on the skin.
Yes, I bathe my yorkie with j and j baby shampoo and it's fine. You can also buy puppy shampoo at petco. But be sure not to bathe him too much, they have delicate skin and it can get dry really easily.
Have used it many times.. if it is gentle enough for a baby then I think it is gentle enough for a small dog. However, depends on if the dog has fleas, or skin problem, then would need a good dog shampoo.
Oh, sure- my brother uses it on his dog all the time- however, puppy shampoo is actually supposed to be even more gentle than baby shampoo, because it is good for dogs' super-dry skin.
There are great natural dog shampoos, with ingredents formulated for dogs which will give you much better results.
Yes ive tried it on my puppy. I think its gentle. It makes my dogs fur soft clean and a good original scent like a fresh smell.
Try oatmeal shampoo for dogs and only shampoo once a week. Otherwise you will dry out your dogs skin.

  • My hair is full of spots and its so sore!! i was using panthene, so now baby shampoo/conditioner, still sore!!

stopped panthene 5 days ago. spots are like big fat zits which pop, go crustry and bleed then they come back again! sorry for grim details! My hair is full of spots and its so sore!! i was using panthene, so now baby shampoo/conditioner, still sore!!
You have a bad attack of dandruff which is a fungus. Normal shampoos do not touch it so get some Nizoral from your chemist. It really works:

Edit: Everyone's got the fungus (yeast), it just affects some more than others.

http://www.nizoral.comMy hair is full of spots and its so sore!! i was using panthene, so now baby shampoo/conditioner, still sore!!
Might pay you to visit the doc in case you have an infection or something. In the meantime I would use a mild shampoo and make sure you rinse thoroughly as they might be caused by a build up of products especially if you use mousse and gel etc as they don't get washed out.
sounds like you've developed an allergic reaction . its best to talk to your doctor or chemist / drugstore for a mild medicated shampoo . in the meantime you could try putting calamine lotion on the spots.
I think I get that too. It's not as bad, but I get a few sores on my head, and it's wierd, because the only time I get it, is when I use Head and Shoulder's repeatitively. I thought I'd try it out, since I started having some dandruff, but it made my head EXTREMELY itchy. I don't know if it was because I over used it. I wash my hair everyday. But I changed my shampoo to Pantene, and I didn't have a problem. So maybe you do have psoriases or something.
Everyone is wrong. What you are describing is called Psoriasis. It can occur for all diff reasons from stress, to changing weather, to bad shampoos. First thing to do is get a good shampoo. There are 2 that I suggest, the best one would be Nioxin (it is minty and soothing for your scalp) and the second choice would be Tea tree by paul mitchell. They are more costly than the shampoos you have been using but it is worth it to clear up your scalp. I get it every so often and Nioxin clears it up after regular use. Dont pick at it! If it doesnt clear up you may need a prescription. If you have colored or bleached hair make sure and get the one for chemically treated hair or it can dry it out. And get level 1...it says its for fine or thin hair, but that doesn't matter...it is good for everything. Good luck! You could always try google for other ways. I read aloe vera can help...do it at nightime :)
    sounds like psoriasis

you need to get to the doctor who should give you antibiotics to clear it up also a shampoo and cream that you will have to apply to your head
go to the doctor now!! it sounds sore and you shouldn't have to suffer xx
You may have a build of conditioner on your scalp which has blocked pores to cause this flare up. I'm not suggesting that you are not rinsing you hair properly, but if you wash your hair every day and you don't quite get it all out, then this sometimes happens. Try to wash your hair a bit less. I do mine twice weekly, as I used to suffer from tbis too. I think a trip to the doctors is a good idea in case of infection but, If you don't want to go to the doctors, have a word with your pharmacist. He/she may be able to suggest a gentle treatment for you.

Crazygrazy is right. Nizoral is very good.
sounds unusual, you do need to see a doc. maybe you had a reaction to the shampoo. hope its sorted soon
def get to doctors soon, sounds bad, hope it gets better soon xx
Hi do you mean pantene, I get the same as you if I use Tresemme, I would recommend switching to a mild shampoo and even thought you are using baby shamppp/conditoner that doesnt mean it wont irritate as the secnt is still very strong on in that too.

If you have really bad scalp in general what people have recommended Nizoral might work for you but also might irritate more.

I would start using Simple Shampoo and Conditoner, its fragrance free, until it settles down.

Have you tried vosene its slight medicate to help with the irritation on yourscalp so using this every other day should also help, and then never us a strong scented shampoo and conditoner again.

Go back to what you use to use before you use panthene/pantene if thats what you used.

Can i use johnsons baby shampoo/bedtime bath on my cat since i dont have any kitty shampoo left?

Why do you bathe your cat? I can never understand why people bathe their cats. Cats are self-cleaning. They are grooming constantly. To bathe them only dries their skin. I have many cats and have never bathed them; they are the cleanest animal you can have. Can i use johnsons baby shampoo/bedtime bath on my cat since i dont have any kitty shampoo left?
Yes, I consider it to be gentle and safe for your kitty. Can i use johnsons baby shampoo/bedtime bath on my cat since i dont have any kitty shampoo left?
hey.... if you can afford internet access to post goofy questions like this one surely you can afford kitty shampoo for your kitty......

stop being lazy and get your butt to the pet store to get kitty shampoo...
Have fun giving your kitty a bath...There may be something in the shampoo that is bad for your cat's skin, and it will probably dry it out. There's really no reason to bathe your cat in the first place, and if you really feel the need, the bath can wait until you get more kitty shampoo =)
don't give your cat a bath...they are self cleaning....
yeah.. it wont hurt the cat.. have fun cuz most cats hate baths..
NO. Human shampoos are NOT safe for use on pets. Please consult a reputable groomer, pet store or veterinarian before ever using human products on pets. Many products that are safe for humans (example: Tylenol) will kill a cat. Human shampoos have a different pH level than shampoos used for pets.

I agree with the majority of people who have answered that you don't need to bathe your cat. Cats are self-grooming, and if you continue to bathe your cat, he or she will eventually stop grooming themselves. If you insist upon bathing the cat, or your cat no longer self-grooms, then be sure you use a gentle cat shampoo only on your pet.

    Good luck!
Yes, no more tears for the kitten.
Yes, she will smell just like a new born baby. (If she allows u to wash her lol)
I write this from experience. Regular bathing of cats really isn't necessary as many of the others that wrote a response said. Occasionally tho, it's ok to bathe a cat. If you think the cat really needs a bath it's fine to use baby shampoo. Just remember to rinse the shampoo out completely. No matter what kind of shampoo you use, baby or cat shampoo. Like us, if we don't rinse our hair well, we get itchy scalp. Kitty will also be itchy and get dry skin and fur, not good. Rinse the shampoo out real well until you see just water coming off of your cat. Hope this helped!
I only use baby shampoo on my cats. Gerber's. And they smell GOOD for a long time after.

Those of you that don't have to bathe your cats, lucky you. My white one starts looking tan if I don't keep her clean, and my black one looks greasy. I've been bathing them about once a month since they were teeny tiny, and while it's not their FAVORITE activity, they tolerate it well.
personally i don't give my cat baths. The shampoo is used on babies because it is gentle. I use it on my dog and don't bother buying any special shampoo. I haven't noticed any side effects and I've been doing it for years. Just make sure that it is completely washed out or the cat might try to lick it off.

Is baby shampoo safe for permed hair?

Yes, probably the safest, the least harsh. Is baby shampoo safe for permed hair?
any shampoo is good for permed hair although if this is your first time washing your hair after the perm was done then but some shampoo that is mild or lightly scented. Is baby shampoo safe for permed hair?
Why the heck did you perm your babies hair????
    probably.
    yes
I asked the same question for colored hair from the company and the company answered that it was safe for all kinds of treated hair. The baby shampoo is very gentle, so I would use it.
    Yeah, I heard it was!
Yes it's very gentle. But I would opt for something specially designed for permed hair because the baby shampoos are gentle and not irritating but they won't do much in repairing the damaged hair and keep up the curls. Using a shampoo for permed hair can make the curls last longer and the hair have more volumn.
it's safe enough for babies... I don't think you have to worry about permed hair. It's the most mild shampoo you could get, don't ya think?
    yes it is
No, you need to stay away from baby shampoo. You really need a moisturizing shampoo for a perm. Or, even a perm rejuvinating shampoo to prolong the perm.

Baby shampoo is very mild and is designed for fine, thin hair. It is not strong enough for adults.

Can i use baby shampoo on my rats?

thxCan i use baby shampoo on my rats?
Johnson's baby shampoo (original) is fine to use. It's what I use on my females (and always have). My male is bathed with Dawn original, just because he needs a little help with the oil build up.Can i use baby shampoo on my rats?
Although it is recommended to buy a shampoo that is made for small animals, many sources state that baby shampoo will be fine as it is a milder form of shampoo. Only use a formula that states ';no tears'; when using baby shampoo. Kitten or puppy shampoo is also fine to use, but again- a shampoo made for small animals is going to be the best way to go.
Rats kept in clean cages should never need a bath. They can clean themselves. If they are dirty, please use a product designed for dogs or cats as the pH in human soaps and dishwashing liquids are not correct for animals. Here is a list of directions for rat bathing.

    http://www.afrma.org/pp_ratbathing.htm
I use pure %26amp; naturelle rose petals and yogourt. It's a botanical body wash. It's very gentle and wont irritate their skin. I recently bathed out two week old rats with it even.
I use kitten shampoo for my rats I don't think baby shampoo is very safe.
No, they do a great job cleaning themselves. Not only that, but they hate water!
eww rats, wash em in acid

Can you use baby shampoo for ferrets?

You shouldn't use baby shampoo on any animal. The pH is wrong and can lead to skin problems.

There are ferret specific shampoos that have special deodorizers to help control the musky odor common to ferrets. I found these to be the best for my ferret. Can you use baby shampoo for ferrets?
I'm sure it wouldnt harm it but there are shampoo specific for ferrets and other animals for what ever problems they might have. I.E fleas. Can you use baby shampoo for ferrets?
Baby wash, baby shampoo...either one is fine.
Yes, baby shampoo can be used on ferrets.
No, best to use specially formulated ferret shampoos. The ph is wrong, and could dry out the skin.
Yes you can and Johnson's baby shampoo is the BEST shampoo for any animal.
Yeah, only baby shampoo though the rest will dry them out too much. I have 3 ferrets and that's what I use for them, along with baby wipes for in between cleanings. Hope this helps!!

I use California Baby products and they are great. I use this website to choose the safest products for my baby: http://www.cosmeticsdatabase.com/special鈥?/a>

Also, you should read this article if you are interested in the dangers of a lot of non-natural baby shampoo and soap: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/22979800/

';Baby shampoos, lotions and powders may expose infants to chemicals that have been linked with possible reproductive problems, a small study suggests.

The chemicals, called phthalates, are found in many ordinary products including cosmetics, toys, vinyl flooring and medical supplies. They are used to stabilize fragrances and make plastics flexible.

In the study, they were found in elevated levels in the urine of babies who鈥檇 been recently shampooed, powdered or lotioned with baby products.

...';Have any one used Natural and Organic Baby shampoo and body wash lotions. If so any comments.?
I am a big fan of Burt's bee baby shampoo and lotions. I have been using their products for years on both myself and my kids. They have a great line of exclusively baby products. They are free of chemicals and smell really great too!

Here are what some other parents say about Burt's Bee's as well: http://www.viewpoints.com/Burts-Bees-Bab鈥?/a>
not many, unless baby is sick or something then we may take her a bath... i don't think i've ever used shampoo on baby and she's 9 months old... we do clean her with a cloth though if she's gotten something sticky on her by accident... or if i drop my food on her while she's in the mei tai..

just think of all those good oils and that new baby smell that you're just washing down the drain, our baby still smells new and i just love that. (unless baby gets that stinky formula, which ours fortunately never has had.)

babecology has some nice Organic abby products that I actually just use for myself, it's totally natural. The mango balm is great. The lavendar oil is really nice too.
Though my baby was grown up when I learned of them, a friend of mine was using California Baby on her adorable daughter and I was quite impressed - even tried it myself (shh don't tell).

I really like the products and the thought that has gone into them. I have since given a small gift combo at every baby shower; this has resulted in phone calls later with rave reviews and questions about where they can get more.

I go to school with some people that are hard to please in this department - the majority are studying natural medicine, and almost everyone is hyper-aware of the significance of toxins and organics, so the fact that my friend, and fellow student, had chosen this for her child was quite significant to me.

  • If my dog has a minor case of mange can i give it a bath with baby shampoo just for the night?

yes, but try to use one that addresses dry, itchy skin. I would use one with oatmeal, but check the dog shampoo labels to make your long term decisions. If my dog has a minor case of mange can i give it a bath with baby shampoo just for the night?
My puppy had mange. You MUST take him to the vet before it gets worse. He needs special pesticide baths the vet will prescribe to kill the mites. Trust me, my puppy was born with it and we didn't know and she got really sick, she was covered in sores and they were full off pus. I thought she was going to die. We had to bath her weekly and keep a cone on her head so she wouldn't scratch her face or neck. She even had to go to the emergency vet to get fluids after the pesticide made her sick and she kept throwing up.If my dog has a minor case of mange can i give it a bath with baby shampoo just for the night?
No this will just irritate the skin even more. You need to take it to the vet before all of its hair falls out.
The baby shampoo won't kill the mange mites, if that's what you are asking. You need special topical ointments and shampoos to kill off the mites.

Instead of giving it a bath, rub olive oil into the areas affected by mange until you can get your dog proper treatment. The olive oil sticks to the mites and prevents them from breathing. It also soothes irritated skin.
Mange is skin mites, I don't think shampoo will get rid of them. Can you phone a vet and ask what's appropriate to use on mange? Even calling an animal emergency hospital is ok, they'll ask a vet and get back to you while you wait.

Can baby shampoo really grow your hair?

no..hair growth is geneticCan baby shampoo really grow your hair?
No, that's not true %26amp; as a matter of fact, no shampoo makes the hair grow. When I was in cosmetology school, we did PH tests on many shampoos %26amp; Johnson's Baby Shampoo was high on the scale, meaning it's high in alkaline, %26amp; not that good for the hair. Go figure huh?Can baby shampoo really grow your hair?
no i dont think it can.. where did u hear that from?
No shampoos help us to grow the hair, Only the good food and keeping the hair clean and cool helps us to gow the hair.
Sorry! Baby shampoo doesn't grow hair. All it does is make it softer.
No - why would it be able to?
Shampoo is cleaning agent and it will not allow hair to grow , rather the hair will fall , by frequently using any shampoo soaps.
I don鈥檛 about grow but its really good for hair.
baby shampoo will make your tresses soft and shiny...not grow your hair. extensions maybe?
no!!! ur hair just feels better...
no it cannot grow ur hair .it just only protects frm further damage
i've never hear of that but i know that horse shampoo can. it's not as weird as it sounds. you can get it from sally's beauty supply.
i dont know a baby shampoo that can grow hair. hair growth is affected by many factors age hormone race genetics etc. if u have hair growth problems just c a skin specialist.. that can help.
Baby shampoo is also the worst sort of shampoo you can use on your hair because of all the chemicals with which it's infused for no tear and detangling.
nope, but it will make it really shiny
No, but it will make your hair nice and soft, without a chance of burning your eyes.
no, but leaves your hair in a veyr good condition that makes it feel longer, thicker, and amazing!
no. if you are trying to make your hair grow faster take prenatal vitamins
I dont know. But, i kow that Minoxidil (any brand) can make your hair grow. I have tried it.
Shampoo only cleans your hair, nothing else.
I don't really think it would, but I could be wrong. Try using stuff that makes your hair grow and look beautiful. Honey always helps!
No. Hair growth happens from the inside out. Your hair is a dead extension just as your nails and product use cannot effect it's growth. Vitamin E shampoos and others that claim to be healthy are just advertising. In order for vitamins or any ingredient to be effective on hair or nails, they must be consumed/ingested. Hair growth is based on diet, genetics and overall health of the individual.
Never heard that one. I do know that if you want your hair to grow quicker, you should try prenatal vitamins. They won't hurt you if you aren't pregnant. They just have some extra good stuff to help your hair and nails.
    no
no, i dont think so infact try applying a little castor oil with olive oil to ur scalp regularly.it really helps!!
    not that i know of.

but ive been using a shampoo called ';mane and tail'; and it really works! my hair has grown a couple inches longer in the past month.
    MAYBE I DONT KNOW
No it cannot. If it could do you think so many bald people would still be exactly that.....bald as a babies bum!
I have never heard that. I suppose that you could try it.

Keep your hair healthy. That's a good way. Keep your hair trimmed regularly (every 4 to 12 weeks).

How many weeks/months was your baby when you started using shampoo on their hair?

My daughter is 3 and I still don't use shampoo on her hair becuase we only use the tear-free body wash/shampoo.How many weeks/months was your baby when you started using shampoo on their hair?
My son was about 4 days old. I used the Johnson's and Johnson's no tear shampoo and body wash. Its mild for their delicate skin.
it depends on how dirty the baby is, about once a week, just keep stuff off her face until six months.
    baby shampoo, 4 days old
well, when they are born, the nurses do wash their hair with baby shampoo.....and for a few wekks a took my newborn a bath every other day, and my other kids my oldest 4 still uses baby shampoo!
i use johnson and johnson head to toe, from day one.

i dont understand the thumbs down, this is when my baby was using shampoo on his hair, actually the nurses used it on him on day one. so obviously its safe if medical people are doing it to such young babies...
    2years
at any young age baby or tear free shampoo is okay i would wait until they can bath themselves before using something other than tear free shampoos
I used it at the first bath,I didnt have the money for baby stuff.I used the same shampoo i use.I gave my son a bath like 2 days after i took him home and washed his hair now hes 20 years old.
From the time I took him home with me I used shampoo on his hair because the temperature in Puerto Rico (where we live) is very hot and he would sweat.

As long as is baby shampoo it wont do any harm to it
You can use Johnson and Johnson from birth. Than I changed over to regular when I started in with the regular tub baths. I got four boys and one on the way. I did sink baths until they got to big for that and than into the tub.
my baby girl was born with a ton of hair that had to be washed regularly right away. My middle daughter had no hair, but terrible cradle cap, so for her we had to shampoo her head everyday right from the start.
i didnt start giving my baby a bath until her umbilical cord fell off. I just give her a sponge bath. I didnt start giving her baths until she was like a month old just make sure you use baby shampoo like johnsons.
you can start after a couple days.. just be very careful %26amp; make sure the water is not too hot or cold (they're very sensitive).. we bought one of those rubber ducks that show on their bottom if the water's too hot.

johnson %26amp; johnson is the best baby shampoo you can buy.. you can use it on their skin also.. it's really good for their sensativity.
baby shampoo as soon as I got him home. 4 days old.
right away, but only every few days or so. you shouldn't have to wash a newborn baby too often unless they throw up a lot. our pediatrician also recommended adult danruff shampoo for cradle cap. used vary sparingly and kept away from the face, it is safe to use for newborns.
I used that yellow baby soap on his whole body including hair, and when he was about 6 months I started using regular soap for his body, and only using the special stuff for hair. He was about 3 when we started using regular shampoo for him.

My baby brother got icky scalp problems because they didn't wash his scalp well enough.

lol i was reading it and laughing so hard!!! all these people think ur talking about an infant :o) bt no baby shampoo just doesnt soothe out my frizzy hair like sunsilk shampoo does

muahh! My baby girl doesn't use baby shampoo, is that bad?
Baby shampoo is formulated to use on immature or delicate skin and it won't sting if it gets in her eyes. Using adult shampoo could be too harsh and drying for a baby and it can sting in their eyes.

Get a bottle at WalMart it is only a dollar or two and a little bit goes a long way.

    http://www.ecobaby.co.uk/babyshampoo.asp鈥?/a>

    ';Baby shampoo is specially designed for babies because babies are more sensitive to harsh chemicals that can be found in adult shampoos. Your baby鈥檚 skin and hair is more sensitive and is more susceptible to drying so baby shampoo is designed to help moisturize, protect and clean gently.';
Awe poor baby, i doubt health wise it'll damage her in any way. But since her skin is very delicate it might cause her to be very itchy, and get a rash or something, making her very uncomfortable and making you impatient. Just buy her the baby shampoo or even the johnsons body bar it's like $1 and you can use it on her hair and skin.
As a pediatrition and a mom myself, that is not good for either her eyes or skin. I understand you love your daughter , which means you want the best for her. I would reccomend you use Johnson Johnson or even [ if you can afford it ] gerber. Good luck and try some of these tips. Remember her delicate skin and gentle eyes need to be protected at all time and to every standard.
If she's a baby then you're the one using the adult shampoo, not her. It could hurt her eyes if it got in them which is why infant and children's shampoos have No Tear formula. I suggest buying some infant shampoo for her that way you don't dry out her skin, or irritate her eyes.
mmm.. I would guess that if Mommie 2 be was actually a pediatrician she woul be able to spell the word correctly?

I'd use baby shampoo just because it's Ph balanced so it won't irritate baby's eyes. Other than that, I'm guessing it's no big deal.
The only to worry about would be if it got into the baby's eyes, it can burn or sting. I bought my granddaughter a special cup, it has a soft side that forms to the baby's head and doesn't allow the shampoo to get into her eyes, when rinsing.
Baby shampoo may have more, worse, and harsher chemicals than some adult shampoo. Some baby shampoo is worth the money and some isn't.

And if adult shampoo bothers her skin you will notice, then just use something else.
If she's a baby don't you wash her hair for her? How is she washing her own hair and why would it be up to her?? When they are really little you should stick the baby shampoos, because yes it will sting her eyes and things.
Nope, I raised 3 kids of my own, shampoo is shampoo,

it's all the same, just with a different name, just to get shopers to think they're buying something great.
It will irritate her young eyes and maybe her skin. That is why Johnson %26amp; Johnson makes great products. Buy the products that is made for children...
No but it is best to use baby shampoo it will keep her skin soft and if any thing got into her eyes it will not harm her!

    GOOD LUCK!
If you use adult shampoo on a baby and get it in their eyes it will sting the eyes.
It might be too harsh for her and will sting if it gets in her eyes. A bottle of baby shampoo costs about $2 at WalMart.
too many chemicals.... stick to the baby shampoo!
    I would use baby stuff...
    use baby products like Johnson%26amp;johnson

tht one is the best one
it will make her grow up rili fast

Did you get a special shampoo/conditioner or body wash to use after delivering your baby?

Because I did for my august 8th 2006 baby boy and I use it a few times a month and every time I do the smell brings back such strong emotions and memories of the day I gave birth to him. The sense of smell is such a powerful thing and I keep certain perfumes and (i know it's silly) but deodorants and face washes that I used growing up to smell them and get those memories of those times back.Did you get a special shampoo/conditioner or body wash to use after delivering your baby?
my son who is now 2,i used the aveeno baby wash and shampoo..i bought it again for my now 3 month old and everytime i go to bathe him,i feel very emotional as well...also the hospital i gave birth to my 3 month old at used the pampers swaddlers diapers and i recently bought a package and when i opened them the strong smell of the diapers brought back the memories of him as a newborn in the hospital. it might sound silly to some people but to me it is a normal thing and its good to bring back those sweet memories every once in a while =)

  • I am getting a cat today what shampoo is safe to use on her because I have a six month old baby?

I probably won't let him have a whole lot of contact with the baby but it is kind of inevitable so I want to make sure that the flea shampoo I use is safe if some how my baby touches it. I also would like to know about some at home remedies for de-worming a cat her current owner says she is fine but I want to be sure.I am getting a cat today what shampoo is safe to use on her because I have a six month old baby?
Please do not get a cat until your child is at LEAST four years old. Babies are young children are not intelligent enough to know when they're hurting a cat and can easily injure it. And the cat will respond back my swiping its claws at or biting the baby. Babies and cats are NOT a good combination.

If you insist on getting this cat don't use flea shampoos. They're not only useless they're also VERY dangerous as they contain harsh pesticides. Get the cat on a monthly spot treatment such as Advantage, Frontline or Revolution. Over the counter dewormers are also VERY dangerous for cats - especially since you don't even know if the cat has worms or which worms it might have.

The very first thing you should be doing when getting a new pet is taking it to the vet so it can be fully checked out. Bring a sample of the cat's poop in a little baggie and the vet can do a fecal exam. Then the vet can treat the cat properly with SAFE effective wormers specific to whatever worm the cat has. The vet can also give the cat its first dose of Advantage or one of the other flea treatments. Subsequent treatments you can buy from him or online at http://www.800petmeds.com

It troubles me a bit that you would use the term ';home remedies';. Can you not afford to take this cat to a vet? If so then you have business taking this cat.

edit: who's giving thumbs down to all the GOOD advice? Shame on you.I am getting a cat today what shampoo is safe to use on her because I have a six month old baby?
The very first thing I ever do in getting a new cat is to take it immediately to the vet for a health assessment. It is not insulting the person you got it from, it simply is making sure there are no surprises. It also sets you up with a relationship with a vet for any future spay/neuter/vaccinations.

You have a baby, and it is not that your new cat will give something to the baby, it is that you have your hands full without having to worry about the cat coming down with something that could have been caught immediately.

Cats are continually giving themselves a bath, but if you are concerned about fleas, your vet has extremely effective medications that eliminate the problem by putting just a few drops between their shoulder blades. And the vet can tell you if there even is a problem. As far as worms, unless the cat has been treated as a kitten, it probably has them. Again, one pill and it pretty well is over. Besides, only the vet can do the analysis of a fecal sample to tell if the cat has worms in the first place. Any over the counter remedies for worms are not going to be effective. Some say garlic. Well, garlic can be fatal to cats, so one has to really know the dose one is giving, and why take the chance when a vet has the right medications.
Don't use shampoo to get rid of fleas. It's not very effective and unless you're an expert at bathing cats you could be in for a real hassle. Use the liquid that you apply to the back of the cats neck, like Frontline. It's best to get the ones you can only buy from a vet; the OTC flea meds aren't as effective. Your baby will be safe if he touches the cat once the meds work there way down onto the skin of the cat. Just don't let him handle the cat until the fur area where you applied the meds is no longer greasy looking (a few hours, usually).

As for worming, there are OTC wormers for round worm which you give every month and are available at Petco, etc. The wormers from the vet are for tape worm; you only need that if the cat is showing signs of infection (small segments that look like rice grains in his poop or coming from his anus).
If the cat doesn't have fleas, why are you washing it in flea shampoo? The cat should be confined and treated before you bring it home. You don't want fleas in the house.

And take him to the vet to be checked out, shots given, tested and treated for worms if necessary, and neutered/spayed if not done so.
No home remedies to worm a cat. If it has fleas, a shampoo is a POOR choice.

If I was getting a new cat and had a baby, I would have the cat to the vet before bringing it home. It need deworming, vaccines, and flea treatment. All done by the vet for GOOD results.
Any brand that a pet store sells should be cool.
Take her to the vet for de-worming, as far as the fleas if she remains an indoor only kitty, she will not get fleas. This is safer for her anyway.
