so now it's up to you to choose the on you prefer best.Would baby shampoo work as a gentle alternative to regular shampoo?
You might want to try an organic shampoo with only natural ingredients. BioInfusion has an organic line of shampoos and conditioners that can only be bought at Walgreens. Shampoos are usually drying because they contain a certain ingredient. Can't remember the exact name of the ingredient but I know it's 3 words and the initials are SLS, whenever I see those initials I look for something else. Most shampoos contain this ingredient and that ingredient is what makes your hair dry, so look for something that doesn't contain SLS. You can probably google ';SLS + shampoo'; to find the whole name.

Another thing many people with curly and natural hair do is co-wash, which stands for condition wash. They use conditioner to wash their hair instead of shampoo. The conditioner will get their hair clean and will also help it retain moisture because it doesn't have the drying element that shampoo has. Co-washing can cause build-up over time, and it doesn't rid the hair of some particles like mineral and hard water so you do have to clarify your hair once in a while to get rid of the build-up. Some people use homemade products to clarify, others use a clarifying shampoo or regular shampoo.
It would be gentle in the way that it's less chemical and fragrance. If you are wanting to nourish your naturally dry hair, then it won't do any good. Moisture is something you are not born with, so if you want more nourished hair, you need to add it to your hair.

Most fro like hair need more oil than moisture. So try oil leave in treatment and using heavy moisturizing treatment rather than concentrating on shampoo.

Alternatively, you can use Olive Oil in the hair. Really good treatment for extremely dry hair.
I would give it a try. One time when we were out of regular shampoo I used our kids Johnson's shampoo and it worked just fine. You might have to use a little more than you think because it doesn't lather as much as the regular stuff.
this is website is very enlightening. Its dedicated to very curly hair

You need to use grease if it is dry.
