Can I use Baby Shampoo on my pet parrot?

Well they are probable testing and making the human baby shampoo safer than for sun conures. There is a Rite Aid two minutes away so it is easier than driving to petco. Think of it this way. Isn't the baby shampoo tested on animals first? Would the human baby shampoo hurt my parrot at all, in any way?Can I use Baby Shampoo on my pet parrot?
Yes it would.

You should not use ANY shampoo on parrots no matter how safe it is for babies.

Birds don't required shampooing or soap to bathe. All they need is clean water.

The only thing that should be used for birds id Dawn liquid wash %26amp; that is only used to remove grease %26amp; oil stains from the bird.

EDIT: so called parrot shampoos are just a load of rubbish %26amp; just because they're around it doesn't mean they're good. Parrots do not get dirty enough that they have to use shampoo. Why waste your money %26amp; risk your birds health just to use a parrot shampoo? Can I use Baby Shampoo on my pet parrot?
Do not use human shampoo of any kind on your parrot. While it may not hurt a dog or cat, birds have highly sensitive respiratory systems (so the close contact of oils in the shampoo my kill your bird). You bird is very capable of cleaning his feathers with room temperature water, You just need to provide him with a container large enough to bathe in and by instinct he will take a bath when he feels comfortable doing so.

It's a very unnatural thing to force a Parrot to bath and who knows how his feathers may react to the shampoo.

Nope no shampoo on your parrot..the reason companies sell so called ';parrot shampoo'; is because they don't know alot about birds and only want to sell a product...

Now if your bird gets something icky on his feathers such as oil or gets into something a little bit of plain dawn dish soap is ok to use and you need to make sure to rinse well, Plain dawn dish soap is what they use to clean up birds after an oil spill..but thats the only reason to use it if your bird gets something toxic on his feathers.

For daily bathing provide a shallow dish of plain water or mist your bird with a squirt bottle with just plain water .

Shampoos and other so called cleaners for birds can dry out their feathers and skin..Just Plain water works just fine
Ok why do you want to bathe your parrot with shampoo?

If it needs to be cleaned from a stain or such it will come out with their own preening ...If it landed in oil or something like that 1-2 drops of dawn liquid soap(blue) or ivory dish soap will work keep away from the head and rinse very well ... We had a cockatiel that the vet ordered bathed in ivory due to the itching she had from a massive molt he only ordered it once and it took care of the issue we never had to do it again .. if it is due to nothing other than he needs a bath plain water will do just fine :D
Why in the world would one use shampoo on a bird? Parrotts, parakeets, etc., they will clean themselves using their drinking water. I have owned birds for 20 plus years %26amp; never, ever, have I used shampoo on them. They sell it probably because people are stupid enough to buy it.
They do not sell parrot shampoo. They sell a mist bath to spray on your bird. Which mainly contained water. If you want your bird clean then take it is the shower with you on a shower perch and afterwards the bird will clean it's feathers on its own.
You don't wash birds unless something seriously nasty has gotten on them. You don't want to remove the oils that are naturally on their feathers.
my vet told me to use liquid dawn, couple of drops with a spray bottle of water or bathe him in it. they use dawn on the birds in a oil spills. hope this helps
Parrots are not used in testing facilities.

Shampoo should not be used on birds.
